Immediately after the news of Musharraf’s demise, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement expressing their condolences. The statement was issued by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad and all the services chiefs. They expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and offered their prayers for the departed soul. The military’s media wing added, “May Allah bless the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family.”
He joined the Pakistan Army in 1961 and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the Chief of Army Staff in 1998. He led the country as its President during a critical period in its history, including the US-led War on Terror following the 9/11 attacks and a period of domestic political instability.
