First Hindu Woman Assumes charge as Assistant Commissioner in Hasanabdal

Gulwani, 27, was appointed assistant commissioner and town administrator after passing the competitive Central Superior Services (CSS) exam and becoming the first woman from her community to join the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) in 2020.

She is the first member of her community to hold this position. Gulwani graduated from Benazir Bhutto Medical University in 2016 with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. She is originally from the little town of Chak, which is located in the Shikarpur region of Sindh (MBBS).

She pursued urology coursework and started getting ready for the CSS test. Despite her family’s expectations, Gulwani chose to work in administration instead of pursuing a career in medicine, realizing the goals of both her and her parents. Gulwani claimed that despite belonging to a minority group, she had never encountered any problems. Along with that, she added that she was “glad to be Pakistani first and then Hindu.”

Along with that, she added that she was “glad to be Pakistani first and then Hindu.” I’ll endeavor to improve Hassanabdal’s beauty because it is a lovely city, she declared. In addition to Hasan Abdal, a Christian Municipal Committee Officer (MCO) named Hensin Karamat also holds a charge over the Hazro tehsil. This means that both of Hasan Abdal’s administrative positions are currently held by members of minority populations.
