At Babusar Top, Pakistan’s most well-known tourist attraction, a family was forced to hand over valuables under threat of gunfire by unidentified armed men.

A family of tourists were stopped by masked men holding guns along the roadside at Babusar Pass. All of the family members’ possessions, including cash and cell phones, were taken away.

The affected family is said to be from Rawalpindi’s Tehsil of Gujjar Khan. On Irfan Hussain’s complaint, the incident was reported, and it is said that two armed robbers who have not been identified yet stopped them with gun in their hands and stole everything they found valuable.

Passenger muggings on Babusar Road, according to sources, have been occurring for a long time.

In a similar incident on November 2017, although the Hazara Deputy Inspector General of Police denied reports that security had been removed from the highways, a group of tourists, including some locals, were robbed by bandits close to the Babusar Top.

The Chilas-Babusar Road had become hazardous to travel on because of the snowfall that had made the roads slick and hazardous, and because Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had removed security personnel from the road, leaving it open to thieves and terrorists.

This was stated in a notification issued by the Diamer deputy commissioner. According to the directive written by Diamer Deputy Commissioner Dildar Malik, “Babusar road is closed for all types of traffic with effect from November 4 and until further orders.”

DIG Saeed Wazir, a Hazara, said that they had not received a copy of the notification. Additionally, he denied the allegation made in the notification that the Hazara police had reduced security along the Chilas-Babuser road.

Wazir informed journalists that the KP police were remained on the route and that patrolling was continuing as usual. He also stated that they would never withdraw protection from the road. I’ve issued strong orders to the Kohistan and Mansehra district police officers to keep patrolling the GB road day and night.

While this was going on, the SHO of the Kaghan police station confirmed that thieves had stolen jewellery and other valuables from tourists near Babusar Top and had hurt one who resisted. But he confirmed as well that they were constantly manning the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhand road.
