Fairytale-like ending for Lahore Qalandars as 7-year drought ends with PSL trophy

Lahore Qalandars put up a clinical effort to defeat Multan Sultans by 42 runs and win their first Pakistan Super League (PSL) title after seven years of unceasing battle.

The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven champions, Lahore Qalandars, defeated Multan Sultans by 42 runs in the final at the legendary Gaddafi Stadium.

Qalandars won the first-ever HBL PSL title after restricting Sultans to 138 runs while defending a 181-run goal. Each team has now won a PSL edition, as the Qalandars have won the coveted HBL PSL title.

In the crucial final, the Lahore Qalandars chose to bat first. Fakhar Zaman (3), the tournament’s highest run scorer, was dismissed by Asif Afridi thanks to a superb catch by Shahnawaz Dahani

In the same over, Qalandars lost Zeeshan Ashraf (7) and Abdullah Shafique (14) respectively. From the opening, Mohammad Hafeez gained a stranglehold on the game, and Qalandars continued to score.

He made his shots, but Kamran Ghulam was sluggish in his approach, resulting in a huge shot. The return of Ghulam, who scored 15 off 19 balls, was aided by Shan Masood and Tim David’s tag-team effort.

Due to Hafeez’s premeditated attack and the onslaught from Harry Brook and David Wiese, Qalandars scored nearly 100 runs in the final eight overs. Hafeez got his first fifty of the season and finished with 69 runs off 46 balls. Qalandars finished with an incredible 180/5 total.
