Insomniac Games, known for creating the widely acclaimed Spider-Man games on PlayStation 4 and 5, recently faced a significant ransomware attack. The breach exposed nearly the entirety of Insomniac’s upcoming release plans.
The hackers demanded a $2 million ransom, threatening to disclose 1.67 terabytes of data. In response to Insomniac’s refusal to comply with the payment demand, the hackers went on to release details about Insomniac’s game lineup until 2030 and even revealed plans for a PC version of the recently launched Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5.

According to the leaked information, the anticipated cost for the PC port of Spider-Man 2 is projected to be $4.6 million, double the expense of its predecessor. The completion target for this port is set for the end of Insomniac’s 2024 financial year, concluding in March 2024. Nevertheless, the availability of the PC version is not imminent due to Sony’s policy. Sony, the owner of Insomniac Games, has consistently declared that PC releases of its first-party games won’t occur until at least a year after their PlayStation counterparts. Typically, PC launches for PlayStation games take around two years, with Returnal being a rare exception.
Consequently, Spider-Man 2’s PC release is expected in 2025. In addition to Spider-Man 2, Insomniac plans a standalone Venom game in the autumn of 2025, following the format of Spider-Man: Miles Morales—a more compact game. According to the leaked information, the much-lauded Wolverine is anticipated to be released in the fall of 2026. Spider-Man 3, hinted after Spider-Man 2, is slated for a fall 2028 release. A new Ratchet and Clank title is scheduled for 2029, marking an eight-year gap since the previous installment. Lastly, Marvel’s X-Men is reportedly in development for a release in 2030.
