Exciting Developments for Passport Issuance Seekers

As reported by ARY News, the Directorate General (DG) of Passport and Immigration has approved the implementation of an online appointment booking system for individuals in need of passport services.

DG Passport and Immigration’s Mustafa Jamal reportedly issued fresh directives to the zonal passport offices. Mustafa Jamal suggested the creation of an online appointment scheduling system to enhance convenience for the general public. He also recommended that applicants should receive earlier notifications via an SMS service.

Before this development, e-passports were issued at all passport offices nationwide by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, which is a part of the Interior Ministry. E-passports became available through the federal government in June. According to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, the fee for an urgent e-passport will be Rs 15,000, and the fee for a 36-page passport valid for five years will be Rs 9,000.

For a 72-page electronic passport, the regular pricing will be Rs. 16,500, and the urgent pricing will be Rs. 7,000. The standard cost for a 36-page passport valid for ten years is Rs. 13,500, while the urgent cost is Rs. 22,000. The standard cost of a 72-page passport for ten years is Rs. 24,750, while the urgent cost is Rs. 40,500. Normal passport fees will continue to be charged as per the schedule.
