A Stanford University article titled “Frameworks for a Developmental Welfare State: Lessons from Pakistan’s Ehsaas Initiative” praised the programme.
The programme was being carried out by the Pakistani government to improve the living circumstances of the most vulnerable and impoverished population group.
According to Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSIIS), Pakistan’s Ehsaas Program is the best anti-poverty initiative. The Pakistani Ehsaas Program is one of the most effective anti-poverty programmes for enhancing the lives of the nation’s poorest residents. The majority of the population in Pakistan is among the poorest and most vulnerable, hence the government of Pakistan has been working to improve their situation through the Ehsaas Program. How the World Can Learn from Imran Khan’s Poverty Alleviation Ehsaas Program is the subject of a paper published by Stanford University.
The initiative gives qualified households access to health, education, and livelihood services as well as cash payments. Over 4 million families had benefited from the Imran Khan programme as of May 2020. The Ehsaas Program is a component of the government’s bigger initiatives to fight poverty, which also include the adoption of a social security card and the opening of a national social safety net portal.
The government is also attempting to expand the reach and better target its safety net programmes. The government is making a concerted effort to fight poverty in Pakistan and through these efforts intends to significantly enhance the lives of Pakistanis.
Netizens took to twitter to show their appreciation. Twitter user @DrMaryamMastoor tweeted, “Imran Khan is the main wall of Pakistan and it is the duty of every patriotic Pakistani to give all kinds of support to this wall.”

The former prime minister claimed on his official Twitter account that despite dealing with issues like “stabilising a bankrupt economy,” the Covid pandemic, the International Monetary Fund programme, and the commodity super cycle, the PTI government “still managed to lay the foundation of a welfare state.”
While grappling with stabilising a bankrupt economy, IMF programme, Covid 19 and commodity super cycle, our govt still managed to lay the foundation of a welfare state for the first time in our history.https://t.co/Y3gwS1iPxB
