Bikers to get Ehsaas Cards for cheaper petrol

The federal government is considering implementing Ehsaas Petrol Cards for motorcycle riders, with the goal of providing them with cheap fuel throughout the country.

The news comes as the price of petrol has risen to an all-time high of Rs. 147.83, making it extremely difficult for most bikers to purchase it in the face of rising inflation.

For the first 15 days of January 2022, the price of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) was raised by Rs4 per litre. The hike was announced by the PTI government in order to fulfil the petroleum levy objective set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Because oil prices have just reached a height not seen since 2014 on the international market, the government has no alternative but to announce another increase in petroleum product prices on February 1st.

As a result, the Ehsaas Petrol Cards for motorcycles make a lot of sense. However, when the government would implement them for bikers remains to be seen.

After driving up the price of petroleum goods to a then-record high in October of last year, the federal government contemplated a similar idea.

A plan to provide discounted fuel to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and public transportation vehicles was debated in the federal cabinet with Prime Minister in the meeting, however, the proposal was never implemented.
