British Prime Minister Fined For Not Using the Seatbelt in Moving Vehicle While Recording Video For Social Media

After receiving a fixed-penalty notice from the police for failing to buckle up, Rishi Sunak made history by being the second prime minister to ever be fined by the authorities in the past year.

The prime minister, who recorded a social media video earlier this week while riding in the back of a car without a seatbelt, was fined, the Lancashire constabulary revealed on Friday.

Since being penalized by the Metropolitan police for visiting Downing Street parties while the building was under lockdown, Sunak has been fined twice in the last year. Boris Johnson was the first incumbent prime minister to be fined for breaking the law at that time, and he also received a fine at that time.

The following statement was made public by the Lancashire Police Department on Friday: “You are aware that a video has been going around on social media showing a person not wearing a seatbelt while a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire. Following an investigation into the situation, we have today given a conditional offer of a fixed penalty to a 42-year-old male from London.

The prime minister fully understands that this was a mistake and has expressed regret, according to a No. 10 spokesperson. Naturally, he will pay the stipulated fine. According to the government’s safety campaign, every motorist or passenger who is caught not using a seatbelt faces a fine of up to £500. The police did not disclose the exact amount they had fined the prime minister.

Sunak turns to the camera without his belt on to discuss the government’s leveling up plan in the video, which was posted to Instagram but has since vanished. The prime minister was traveling from one event to the next while being followed by police outriders in his automobile. According to Labor, the incident turned Sunak into a “laughing stock.” Hapless Rishi Sunak’s leveling-up photo op, according to a party official, “blew up in his face and made him into a laughing stock.”

He began the week with the hope that people would be appreciative of partial reimbursement for the money that the Tories had stolen from them over the previous 13 years. Instead, he received a quarrelsome group and yet another fine from the cops.

“Just when you thought the Tory government couldn’t possibly get any more absurd, they achieve it.” This week, Sunak came to northern England to promote grants worth millions of pounds that the government announced from its leveling-up fund. The fine comes as a bittersweet end to a difficult week for Sunak.

In addition to resetting the government’s agenda after a trying six months, the visit was intended to demonstrate Sunak’s capacity to relate to regular people. However, it was overshadowed not just by the issue surrounding his seatbelt but also by the information that he had flown to Blackpool in an RAF plane with 14 seats.
