Brazilian Wonderkid Expected To Sign with Real Madrid

Real Madrid is inching closer to signing 16-year-old wonderkid Endrick for £62 million, beating Chelsea to the Brazilian phenomenon. The teenage Palmeiras player is expected to be signed by Los Blancos for an initial fee of £53 million, with the cost increasing by an additional £9 million through add-ons, according to several reliable sources.

The teen had engaged in lengthy discussions with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who invited him to their training grounds and shared their strategies for maximizing his growth. To entice Endrick to Stamford Bridge, the west Londoners even went so far as to bring Brazil’s captain Thiago Silva into the negotiations.

They will likely be let down, though, because a breakthrough in negotiations late last evening will allow Real, the current European champions, to sign him. Vinicius Jr., a winger for Madrid, has been instrumental in their effort to sign Endrick, as the two young Brazilian attackers have the same agents. Vinicius, 22, was likewise snatched from South America at a young age for a hefty sum that he has gone on to more than justify. Endrick is already the youngest player to play for Brazilian powerhouse Palmeiras and will join Madrid when he becomes 18 years old. He passed Cristiano Ronaldo to become the second-youngest goal scorer in the Brazilian top division after scoring twice against Athletico Paranaense in October.

Chelsea, meantime, will continue to make efforts to secure young Brazilians after determining that the state of Sao Paulo is a breeding ground for elite talent. The Blues are still weighing their possibilities for purchasing a club in Brazil and have already made an effort to establish a relationship with Santos in that region. It is part of efforts to develop a multi-club structure resembling the “City Football Group” of Manchester City or the Red Bull model, which groups related teams like Leipzig and Salzburg.
