Biden apologises after making foul remarks on reporter

Following a White House event, President Joe Biden was overheard on a hot microphone calling a Fox reporter a “stupid son of a bitch.”

The president made the obscene statement as reporters screamed questions as they exited the East Room after a White House Competition Council meeting on price-cutting efforts.

“Would you accept a question on inflation…?” Fox White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked Biden. Do you believe that inflation will be a political liability in the midterm elections?”

Biden deadpanned, “It’s a terrific asset – more inflation.” “What a Stupid son of a bitch.”

According to a source familiar with the incident, Biden called Doocy later Monday to apologise for his statement.

Doocy stated on Fox on Monday that he asked Biden on inflation since the president said he wouldn’t take any off-topic questions when asked about Russia and Ukraine.

Other reporters “had to inform me that he said that because I couldn’t hear anything over (White House staff urging the press to leave the room),” according to Doocy.

In recent days, the president has become increasingly frustrated when confronted with difficult questions in public.

“What a stupid question,” Biden said under his breath when another Fox White House journalist, Jacqui Heinrich, asked why he was waiting for Russian President Vladimir Putin to make the first move with Ukraine.

“The president has shown that he appreciates the value of press freedom,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during a press briefing earlier Monday.

When asked about Sarah Palin’s legal battle with The New York Times, Psaki responded that the president “clearly took a measure earlier this year to guarantee there couldn’t be a replication of steps that had been taken throughout former administrations as it related to journalists.” So I think that speaks to his dedication, but I’m at a loss for words on the case.”

Psaki appeared to be referring to the Biden Justice Department’s policy adjustment, which said that journalists’ records would no longer be seized in leak investigations.

Two main crises that the Biden administration is still dealing with are at the foundation of the anger directed towards reporters: managing inflation and the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
