Serbia’s Borisa Simanic underwent kidney removal surgery following an injury he sustained during the Basketball World Cup. The injury occurred on August 30th in the Philippines when South Sudan’s Nuni Omot struck him in the abdomen while Serbia secured a 115-83 victory.

Simanic initially had surgery on the same day as the incident, but due to complications, a second operation was necessary on the following Sunday. They emphasized that basketball is meant to unite people rather than be a tool for prejudice and extended their prayers and best wishes to Borisa Simanic.
