For driving without a license and a lane violation, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was fined by the traffic police. As per the authorities from the traffic police department, in Lahore’s Gulberg area, the leader of the national cricket squad received a penalty of Rs 2,000 on September 17th.
Police officials pulled over Babar initially for driving without a license, but later found that he was also driving in the wrong lane. The captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team is preparing to assume responsibility for representing Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup, which will be hosted in India.
Due to a delay in the Indian government issuing the team’s visa, they were in an unclear scenario. However, India officially handed visas to the Pakistan team earlier today, according to the governing International Cricket Council (ICC), ending the ambiguity around Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup. The ICC’s confirmation followed reports of a delay in the visa issuance process. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had expressed their concerns to the governing body, citing a visa delay that had disrupted the team’s preparations for the major event across the border.
An ICC spokesperson told Reuters that visas for the Pakistan team have been granted, but no additional information was given. Umar Farooq, a spokesperson for the PCB, confirmed to Reuters that they have been instructed to retrieve their passports from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. It’s worth noting that India and Pakistan have suspended bilateral cricket due to strained political relations, and they only face each other in multi-team competitions such as the World Cup and Asia Cup.
