The Lahore High Court has allowed proceedings of Meesha Shafi’s defamation suit against Ali Zafar which invited quite some commentary on social media.
After this, the long quiet Ali Zafar gave two statements.
In a tweet Ali Zafar said, “Some Criminals”, after warrants were issued against them, are celebrating some self-proclaimed victory by spreading complete misinformation and lies. There is NO such verdict as projected. I’ve been quite patient with all this smear but shall v soon set the record straight!”

He also tweeted, “When I do this, it will be done with undeniable facts and evidence. I’ve mostly been silent to what actually transpired, to allow some face saving for them but now I feel they don’t really deserve it. Each and Everyone. Their links, their connections, the money, everything!”
Earlier in this context his lawyer Advocate Umer Gill tweeted, “AZ filed his defamation suit against Ms. Shafi year 2018. AZ categorically stated that the allegations are false and conspiracy against him in year 2019 due to delay by the other side AZ addressed media outside the court and repeated his stance.

AZ filed his defamation suit against Ms Shafi in Year 2018. AZ categorically stated that the allegations are false & this a conspiracy against him. In year 2019 due to delay by the other side AZ addressed media outside the court & repeated his stance.
He tweeted, “In 2019 Ms. Shafi filed suit against AZ on the basis of his media talk and interviews the district court state Meesha’s case till decision of AZ suit on grounds that the matter Meesha’s suit is already under adjudication in AZ suit.
He also tweeted, “the stay order was silent in the High Court and the same is vacated. This order has just added another case to our list one positive aspect here is that now hopefully they have confidence in our judicial system.
“Last but not least once AZ defamation case is decided Meesha’s suit will end automatically because all these issues are already under adjudication in AZ’s defamation case which is near to its conclusion. The judgment in THAT suit will decide veracity of Meesha’s Allegations.
