As the audio streaming continues to turn up the volume on local women producers, Pakistani artist Mehak Ali has been featured on Times Square Billboard as Spotify’s Ambassador for ‘EQUAL Pakistan.’
Spotify has named Mehak Ali as its first ‘Equal’ Pakistan Ambassador for the month of April, following the Grammy Award-winning Arooj Aftab.
The world’s most popular streaming service strives to honour female creators by providing a forum for them to share their work with the rest of the world.
The new version has “updated its Ramadan Destination for Pakistani listeners, designed for every Ramadan moment,” especially in light of the holy month of Ramazan. Mehak’s selection was influenced by the fact that she recently released a kalaam called ‘Sallay Ala Nabiyena.’
The artist expressed her gratitude to her followers and Spotify for the honour. She wrote on Twitter: “At Times Square in New York, on the same day, at the same place. I had no idea I’d be on a Times Square billboard one day. Thank you so much for your love and support. I’m extremely grateful. Alhamdullilah for everything.”

Mehak Ali said in a statement after being the Equal Ambassador in this auspicious month, “It is an honour to be picked as an Ambassador for EQUAL Pakistan, especially in a month as auspicious as Ramadan.” This is a unique opportunity for me as a woman to not only inspire other women in the country, but also to present listeners with a beautiful track for the Holy Month.
Mehak Ali, who has become a household name in Pakistan, is also a global ambassador for Pakistani women creators.
