After district and sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday imprisoned the wife of PTI lawmaker Shahbaz Gill’s driver and her little daughter, social media activists were outraged.
The brother-in-law of Gill’s driver was also given a physical remand at the request of the Islamabad police. Shortly after reserving it after hearing the arguments from the accused’s attorney, the court issued its decision.
The wife’s attorney then submitted a post-arrest bail petition, on which the court later sent notices, after the court had announced its decision. To keep the wife in jail tonight, Judicial Magistrate Salman Badar has summoned the police and the prosecution tomorrow. Gill was detained earlier this week on suspicion of sedition and inciting the populace against government institutions. The ICT police searched the home of Gill’s driver after his detention and claimed that the man’s family had protested in a government vehicle.
The event occurred around 9 p.m. yesterday, according to the accused’s attorney Faisal Chaudhry, who also asserted that there was video footage confirming that the police entered the driver’s house without a warrant. The defense attorney added that the cops had broken into the accused’s house and had physically assaulted them. The council said that considering the part the woman played in the case posits her to be discharged, since all but one provision in the suit are bailable charges and that they were to file a petition for habeas corpus today but the police released the news to the media.
The 10-month-old daughter of the accused started sobbing throughout the proceedings since she was unable to see her mother. Civil Judge Salman Badr then ordered the girl to be brought to her in the courtroom. The woman responded that the policemen busted the door and entered the residence, we only found out about the incident, when the police had reached our bedroom. When the court asked if she wanted to say anything. Not even our privacy was taken into account. Nauman continued that more than 20 police officers broke into the bedroom and tormented us.

Barrister and Human Rights Activist Hassan Niazi tweeted that Islamabad Police deserve shame. Izhar driver’s wife has to be freed right away because their 1-year-old daughter is without a mother. What sort of corrupt government is this? Harassing women inside the home and small infants being tortured. Pakistani citizens must speak up against the tyrants.

Barrister and former MNA PTI & Parliamentary Sec Law Maleeka Ali Bokhari tweeted that she clearly recalled that Maryam Nawaz, who was convicted of receiving corrupt funds and is the mother of Zahir Jaffir, was granted bail because she is a woman.
He has now committed a larger crime and deserves to spend time in prison because Shahbaz Gills Driver’s wife has no connection to the case and is nursing a kid. Shame.
I precisely remember bail being granted to Maryam N convicted for corruption money & mother of Zahir Jaffir on the pretext pf being women. So now Shahbaz Gills Drivers wife with no nexus to the case & a suckling baby he's committed a bigger crime & deserves to be in jail! Shame https://t.co/yvNh32YUQX
