WATCH TRAILER: Film on true masculinity and love – ‘Mrs & Mr Shameem’

Saba Qamar and Naumaan Ijaz, two Pakistani celebrities, appear in the new Zindagi original series “Mrs & Mr Shameem.” The drama will launch globally on ZEE5 on March 11 and is described as a “unconventional love story.”

Kashif Nisar, who has directed dramas like as Raqeeb Se and O Rangreza, is directing the series.

The series’ theme is a trailblazer for Pakistan, and the main protagonist is an effeminate man, ostensibly from the Queer community, who is depicted as colourful and courageous rather than a victim. There is also the perspective of an illegitimate child, which has been handled maturely.

The new drama symbolises the continuation of ZEE5 India’s collaboration with Zindagi to showcase “genuine and relevant stories with a twist,” according to Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer.

“It’s an uncommon love storey told through a new lens, shattering age-old gender stereotypes and societal constraints.” It also has a great crew behind it, and we’re delighted to share it with our 190 million+ viewers,” Kalra said in a release.

Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative Officer, Special Projects, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd.

said “Mrs & Mr Shameem” aims at “redefining the meaning of true love” and challenges society’s preconceived gender biases.

“It is an uncommon bond of two people based on nothing superficial,” she added.

The show follows Shameem, who “embodies effeminate tendencies,” whereas Umaina, played by Qamar, is “outspoken and bold in her ways,” according to director Kashif.

“Despite their substantial personality differences, a magnificent link of love, respect, and companionship develops between them.”

It’s written by Sajjad Gul (Saji), who describes it as a “current romance” that follows Umaina and Shameem as they discover love in “strange ways.”

“The show examines the social obstacles that exist between men and women. The writer stated, “We hope the audience resonates with the story because it gives a different viewpoint on love.”
