WATCH: Pakistani British TikToker and Mother Found Guilty of Murdering Mother’s secret lover over Blackmailing threats

During a late-night pursuit outside of Leicester, two men were killed in a fireball when their car was driven off the road by another vehicle. A former TikTok influencer and her mother have been found guilty of their murder.

In February of last year, Saqib Hussain and his companion Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21 years old, were murdered by Mahek Bukhari, 24, and her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, 46. They, along with two other defendants, were proven to be guilty. After more than 28 hours of deliberation and a three-month trial at Leicester Crown Court, Mahek Bukhari sobbed in the witness box as the jury read the verdicts on Friday.

While Natasha Akhtar, Ameer Jamal, and Sanaf Gulammustafa were declared not guilty of murder but found guilty of two charges of manslaughter, their fellow defendants, Rekan Karwan, and Raees Jamal, were found guilty of two counts of murder. Neither manslaughter nor murder charges were brought against Mohammed Patel.

Hussain and Ansreen Bukhari had been involved for around three years, and the prosecution claimed that on February 11, 2013, the group tricked Hussain into going to a parking lot where they confronted him about the sexual images and films he had been using to blackmail Ansreen Bukhari.

Two cars carrying the eight defendants followed Hussain and his friend as they fled in their car on the A46 dual carriageway near Leicester at speeds of up to 100 mph. However, their car was forced off the road and exploded when it struck a tree. Hussain reached out to emergency services right before the crash and reported, “I am being pursued by individuals with balaclavas, trying to force me off the road. They intend to harm me, and I fear for my life.” After finding the car’s wreckage as a result of the call, police opened a murder inquiry, according to DI Mark Parish of the East Midlands major investigations team.

DI Parish stated that the 999 call was what turned what might have been a traffic collision into a murder investigation. The onlookers among the general public might have perceived it as a simple car collision, a devastating incident. According to the court’s information, the car that Hussain and Ijazuddin were traveling in, originating from Banbury, Oxfordshire, got divided into two and caught fire upon colliding with a tree. Both of them tragically lost their lives instantaneously due to the severity of their injuries. The collision was not caught on CCTV, but damage to the front of Jamal’s Seat Leon, which was carrying the two victims, was determined to be consistent with the vehicle colliding with the back of the Skoda Fabia.

Parish stated that Hussain, who threatened to transmit sexually explicit photographs to Ansreen Bukhari’s husband unless she paid him £3,000, which he claimed to have spent on her during their affair, might have been dealt with if the mother and daughter from Stoke-on-Trent had sought police assistance. He said, “This was a vicious and cold-blooded act that eventually cost two men their lives. None of the defendants attempted to aid the victims or summon assistance. Instead, they continued driving—even passing the scene of the collision—before turning around.”

The court heard that Ijazuddin had been driving Hussain, a childhood acquaintance, to Leicester as a “favor” even though she did not know any of the individuals responsible for his death. He was merely assisting a friend by providing transport to Leicester. He knew no one else, none of the accused, and he had no idea what was happening, according to DI Parish. The defendants will be sentenced on September 1st.
