WATCH: Baraat showered with dollars, pounds in Sialkot

SIALKOT: A village in Punjab Sialkot witnessed a traditional opulent wedding, with visitors being showered with foreign currency notes, including dollars and pounds.

On social media, a video of money being thrown towards the Baraat (wedding procession) has gone viral.

Aside from foreign currency notes, the guests were reportedly showered with pricey mobile phones and expensive woolen shawls.

Last year, the same scenario occurred in Mandi Bahauddin.

A helicopter was utilised to shower the guests with cash notes at an unusual wedding ceremony in Mandi Bahauddin in March of last year. A video footage showed cash notes being rained down from a helicopter on a wedding procession.

The groom’s brothers had expressly arranged for a helicopter to drop money notes and flowers on the ‘barat’ guests, who had travelled from all over the world to celebrate their brother’s wedding.

This is not the first time that such lavish wedding celebrations have taken place in the country; in a similar gesture, a Gujranwala manufacturer poured dollars during his son’s ‘barat’ [wedding procession].
