Unknown men attack journalist Ahmed Noorani’s wife

Journalism is at times regarded as a risk-prone career in Pakistan, with journalists who report on sensitive topics often risk their lives.

Same is the case occurred with Ahmed Noorani who had lately brought to fore an alleged audio file of former chief justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar.

The incident occurred with Noorani’s wife, Ambreen Fatima, who is a journalist herself. She was apparently attacked in Lahore by two unidentified culprits who broke her car’s windscreen. Her children were also present in the car at the time of the assault.

The incident occurred in Ghazibad area of the Punjab capital. Fatima was going with her children when she came under attack. As per some reports, the attackers started following her car as soon as she left home. When she entered a narrow street, the accused attacked the vehicle. She then sped up the car after which the accused hurled threats of dire consequences and left.

Local journalists condemned the incident, saying it occurred days after the Journalists Protection Bill was passed by the upper house of Pakistan.
