Twitter Introducing Ad Revenue Sharing

A portion of Twitter’s advertising revenue will now be distributed to platform users who create content, according to a recent announcement.

The action is part of Twitter’s aim to entice and retain more creators, and experts anticipate it to be a significant shakeup in the influencer revenue model. “Surprise! Our Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program went live today,” the business announced.

“This means that creators may receive a portion of ad revenue, starting with the comments left on their posts. This is a component of our endeavor to assist users in directly making a living using Twitter.” As part of the new program, authors who meet certain requirements will be eligible to receive a portion of the money made by the advertising that appears in people’s tweet replies.

A creator must be verified by Twitter and have received at least 5 million impressions on each of the previous three months’ worth of tweets to be eligible. Content producers on the platform greeted the news with enthusiasm, but many noted that Twitter has not yet responded to all of the queries that have been raised about the new program. For instance, the amount of money that artists will receive will depend on several variables, such as the number of tweet impressions they get, the kind of ads that are displayed, and the overall effectiveness of the Twitter advertising network.

In addition, while the new model places a strong emphasis on establishing direct connections between creators and their followers, some experts have pointed out that Twitter will start showing ads in responses as a result of this change.

In addition to inviting more reply spam, this could result in the site becoming overrun with paid material. However, Twitter’s decision to share ad revenue with artists is still a noteworthy step that could have a huge impact on the way influencers make money on the network. Since it does not compensate creators for ad views and engagement like YouTube, Meta, TikTok, and other large social media platforms do, Twitter has long come under fire. These platforms all provide some type of ad revenue-sharing monetization program for content creators, which enables them to get paid based on the number of ad views and engagements their content receives. Influencers on Twitter have traditionally relied on sponsorships, product placement, and donations in the past to make money.

But the new program might offer them a more steady and predictable source of income. After Elon Musk took over, Twitter faced difficulties in retaining both users and advertisers who migrated from the platform due to the controversial choices made by the Tesla CEO.

Twitter may levy a small fee to commercial and government users

Last week, Meta introduced Threads, a Twitter-like rival that Musk has referred to as a “clone” of his network, signaling a changing social media landscape. The new Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program from Twitter is viewed by experts as a response to Zuckerberg’s new platform as well as a strategy to compete with other social media platforms and entice advertisers back to the network.
