Top Celebrities Who Are Hot Favorites Among Hackers

Ten celebrities are featured on a list that hackers use as bait. Looking them up online could lead to dangerous websites and viruses, according to a McAfee investigation.

The list also includes celebrities who have been spotted in AI-driven content, including Deepfake technology. The two films that sparked the “Barbenheimer” craze remain very popular with cybercriminals and are also box office successes. When people search for these two movies online, they often encounter attacks such as download scams and ticket frauds that aim to exploit the popularity of these summer blockbusters. Notably, the hackers’ favorite celebrity is none other than our very own Ken, Ryan Gosling, who holds the top spot. Number eight on the list is his co-star Margot Robbie, who plays the title role in the movie “Barbie.”

In the second position is Oppenheimer’s leading lady, Emily Blunt. Jennifer Lopez, well-known by her stage name JLO, is a pop culture icon, actor, singer, and producer who ranks third among the most downloaded celebrities. In fourth place is Zendaya, renowned for her role as the geeky Mary Jane in Spider-Man. The proprietor of X, a former Twitter platform, and the widely popular Elon Musk shockingly holds the sixth rank. A few others include musician Bad Bunny at number nine, American weather presenter Al Roker at number seven, Academy Award winner Kevin Costner at number five, and America Ferrera, who plays Barbie’s advisor Gloria, rounding out the list at number ten.

The 18th-ranked football player on the list is none other than Lionel Messi. The 25th spot is occupied by the singer Taylor Swift, who boasts a sizable fan base. Hackers commit crimes by combining celebrity names with terms like audiobook, lyrics, deepfake, free ringtone, free movie, free download, MP4, and others in their search results, leading to dubious websites. They leverage people’s preference for free celebrity content to perpetrate fraudulent actions. The study discovered between 25 and 135 deepfake website links associated with celebrity searches. These links serve various purposes, including being harmful, entertaining, or used for misleading advertising.

To ensure the security of your devices and promote safe internet browsing, it is advisable to rely on reputable websites, utilize legitimate streaming and downloading platforms, and employ antivirus software. It is perfectly acceptable to search for information about your favorite celebrities, as hackers often exploit their names to lure more visitors. However, it’s essential to exercise caution and vigilance while doing so.
