Tallest Pakistani, who stood 8-foot-2, dies after prolonged illness at 42

BHAKKAR: Muhammad Ijaz, the tallest man in the South Asian country, died on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.

Reports in local media stated that the Ijaz, who stood 8 feet 2 inches, died at the age of 42 after suffering from a bone-related medical condition. He was a resident of Bhakkar’s Quraishiyan Wala who spends his entire life in poverty while in some of his interviews he claimed to get aid from the government.

The brother of the deceased, Abdul Hameed, claimed Ijaz was suffering from bone disease while he did not get the treatment that impaired him.

He further added that the funeral prayers will be offered in his native village, Thala Sarin tomorrow.

As his family claimed him of being around 8 feet 2 inches, the actual height could not be confirmed while some reports claimed that he was 7 feet 8 inches.

It was learned that Ijaz gets injured in an accident while his hip bone was broken which makes his right leg shorter than the other one. In one of his interviews, Ijaz mentioned getting offers for foreign nationalities while he opted to stay in Pakistan.

On the other hand, the second tallest person of Pakistani who hails from Sindh’s Shikarpur district, Naseer Soomro who stands at seven foot nine inches, is also suffering from lung-related disease and needs medical care.

Sindh Health Minister announced his treatment at Agha Khan University Hospital, at the provincial government’s expense.
