In response to claims that US first lady Jill Biden kissed Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, on the lips before the speech on Capitol Hill, Joe Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) is currently trending on social media as the “Smooch of the Union.”
Biden gave his second State of the Union speech, the first after losing the majority in the US House of Representatives. The first lady entered Congress to applause, and immediately afterward, she moved up to the second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, and clasped his hand. She then gave him a “on the lips” kiss. Soon after the incident, a video of the two sharing a kiss became popular on social media.

She positioned herself on the opposite side of Harris’ spouse, but Jill and Doug’s hands stayed clasped even moments after they had shown affection. In advance of the State of the Union Address, Jill Biden allegedly gave Doug Emhoff, the husband of Kamala Harris, a “on the lips” kiss, according to Fox News. Twitter users commented on a video of the two appearing to “kiss” after it became popular on the social media platform. Jill Biden just kissed Kamala Harris’ husband on the lips. Didn’t see that one coming,” a user on Twitter wrote.

Biden is making his first important speech since the Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in front of a divided Congress. He encouraged his Republican “friends” to work together.
Despite setbacks from Covid-19 and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, Joe Biden stated in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday (local time) that the American economy is better positioned to thrive “than any country on Earth.” Putting forth the first indications of his bipartisanship, Biden greeted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy when he took the podium.
As the first Black party leader in the House and the minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries was also recognized by the president.
