Sirbaz Khan – first Pakistani mountaineer to summit 9 of the world’s 14 highest peaks

ISLAMABAD: Hunza-based Sirbaz Khan, who conquered the world’s highest peak Everest, adds another feather to his cap as he became the first Pakistani to climb nine of the world’s top 14 peaks.

Pakistan’s state-run mountaineering body Alpine Club of Pakistan official revealing the details about the feat of the Pakistani climber said the 32-year-old added his name in the history books as no Pakistani climber has conquered Mount Dhaulagiri – the world’s seventh-tallest peak in Nepal.

ACP also felicitated Khan, as he conquered the 8,167 meters peak located in the Himalayan region, and is heralded as one of the difficult peaks to climb due to its sheer sides and cold climate capable to kill humans in no time.

Meanwhile, the recent expedition is a part of Khan’s ambition as he summits eight peaks above 8,000 meters. K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Manaslu, Anapurna, Everest Gasherbrum II, and recently Dhaulagiri are the mountains Khan has climbed so far.

The mountaineer who hailed from Pakistan’s north was part of the 19-member expedition organized named ‘SST-Dhaulagiri I Expd. 2021 Autumn’.

Previously, he conquered the world’s fourth-tallest peak Mount Lhotse in Nepal, which no Pakistani has conquered so far while his marvelous achievements are nowhere to end and he is optimistic to become the first climber from the South Asian country to summit all 14 peaks.

Khan also accompanied late Pakistan’s iconic climber, Muhammad Ali Sadpara, on four of his expeditions.

Following the recent summit, a number of social media users, travel enthusiasts including Sajjad Ali Sadpara, congratulate him.
