‘Winter vacations to be from Dec 25 to Jan 4’

ISLAMABAD: Shafqat Mehmood, the Federal Minister for Education, announced on Tuesday that the “accepted proposal” for winter vacations is December 25 to January 4.

On Twitter, Mehmood wrote: “Today, the federal and provincial secretaries met. Winter vacation would run from December 25 to January 4, according to the agreed-upon proposal.”

However, he said that the involved governments will issue additional alerts.

A meeting of federal and provincial education ministers took place earlier today to examine the proposal to move winter breaks in educational institutions from December to January.

A final decision will be made at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, according to a statement released by the federal education ministry earlier.

According to a representative for the federal education ministry, all provincial ministers were consulted before making decisions about the winter break.

The conference, which was chaired by Wajeeha Akram, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education, discussed reforms in the provincial education system as well as a suggestion to move the winter vacation to January.

It’s worth noting that the Sindh government has already announced that educational institutions will be closed from December 20 to January 1. As a result, academic activities will begin again on January 3.
