Punjab’s school education department plans to adjust school hours across the state, including in Lahore, according to media reports.
The shift in timings was planned, according to sources, because the daytime lengthens over the summer. “School hours from March 1 could be 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,” they said, noting that the current hours are 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
The province’s education department has asked provincial educational authority for proposals on changing the timings, and the final decision will be made once the consultation is done.
After a drop in COVID-19 cases, Punjab schools resumed their academic activities two days ago with 100% attendance.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in Punjab implemented a 50% attendance restriction for lower classes in educational establishments on January 17 in response to the rapid spread of coronavirus. The prohibition was in place for 27 days.
The Punjab School Education Department recommended that all courses in full-attendance schools resumed on Wednesday.
