KARACHI: Celebrated Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif, who is suffering from a cardiac disease along with cancer, is set to leave for the United States where Reema’s husband Dr. Syed Tariq Shahab has agreed to perform the high-risk surgery and the famous cardiologist and philanthropist is also helping in shifting the Zameen Aasmaan actor.
Queen of Lollywood Reema Khan also shared the development on her social media. “Umer Sharif is one of the greatest comedians of the sub-continent and a real legend of all times, he always worked hard to make other people laugh and smile. Today it disturbs me to know that he is in pain and distress because of his grave illness. I am proud of my husband Dr. Syed Tariq Shahab who has agreed to perform the high-risk procedure and is helping the family in his transfer arrangements to America. I have requested him to do all he can to help Umer Sharif sahib recover from this illness”, Khan captioned the post while sharing a picture with Sharif.
Previously, the Sindh government has announced an amount of Rs40 million for Sharif’s treatment besides arranging an air ambulance to airlift him to Washington where he will be admitted at George Washington University Hospital.
Sindh government spokesperson and PPP leader Murtaza Wahab also spoke with the media outlet about the development stating that the provincial authorities are bearing the expenses of Sharif’s treatment and he also confirmed that the funds have been released and transferred to the family which is going through hard times.
He also added that Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah, who is in the US, personally contacted the US Consulate in Karachi for Sharif’s travel arrangements. “I hope the visa will be given to him within the next three to four days” the Karachi administrator added.
Recently, the wife of a 66-year-old took to her social media where she vowed support to Sharif. Zareen Omer promised to arrange all that he needs to fight cancer as she shared an old picture with her better half.
“I will try to get everything for your treatment InshaAllah which I promised with you in the hospital”, she wrote.
She also expressed displeasure in another post over social media pages that shared private pictures from the hospital. “I would like to state and request that just for some likes and share don’t share anything without confirmation Please”, the post reads.
It all started with Sharif’s message which was broadcasted on prime time show on private news in which the ailing TV personality requested the officials to make travel arrangements to the US or else he will have to undergo the open-heart procedure in Pakistan which also comes with a number of consequences owing to his deteriorating health.
