Rare White Lion dies in Karachi zoo as Bhutto lives on

Sindh government has been cruel to not only the citizens but also showing complete neglect to the animals.

This notion comes to fore when a rare white lion died at Karachi Zoo after contracting pneumonia.

Pakistan People’s Party’s City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab has sought a report about the death of a rare breed which is heading towards extinction in the world.

A spokesman of Karachi Municipal Corporation, Ali Hassan Sajid said the lion had been sick for the past 13 days and was suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis. The lion aged between 14 and 15 years old and got inducted in the zoo from Africa in 2012.

A day later after the lion’s death, Karachi Zoo director Khalid Hashmi has been sacked from his position and replaced by Mansoor Qazi. The order was given by Metropolitan Commissioner Afzal Zaidi.

It is to be noted here that the supply of animal food had been frozen by the contractor responsible for maintaining the food of the animals but it was restored soon after.

Shifting the blame, the contractor said that the Karachi municipal authorities have not paid him for months.
