Iftikhar Durrani, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and head of the Central Media Department, is the latest to be harmed by a wave of audio and video leaks that have plagued Pakistani politics recently.
Recently, a video purportedly showing a close aide of Imran Khan engaging in physical contact with a woman—whom social media users claim to be a party employee—went viral. The two don’t seem to realize they are being recorded, suggesting that the video was likely taken using a hidden camera.
As of right now, there has been no confirmation of the clip’s veracity, and neither the PTI leader nor any other party members have made any comments regarding the video, which is currently trending on Twitter and other social media. The timing of the clip, however, sparked many concerns because Imran Khan’s close allies had mostly deserted him in the wake of the May 9 rallies and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf was already having trouble.
Several individuals, including Fawad Chaudry, Shireen Mazari, Fayyaz Chohan, Maleeka Bukhari, Firdous Ashiq Awan, and others, bade farewell to the former ruling party in response to the May 9 incidents, in which various government and military facilities were attacked after Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
