Following his arrival in Toronto, Canada, from Lahore, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) steward went “missing.”
According to the PIA administration, Muntazir Mehdi, who works as a flight attendant, arrived in Toronto on Friday from Lahore on board the national carrier’s aircraft PK-798. Along with other team members, he had been staying in a hotel in the Canadian city.
However, when he failed to show up for work on a trip back to Pakistan, the strange disappearance of the PTI steward was discovered. Subsequently, the airline administration and Canadian immigration authorities were notified about the circumstances. Before Mehdi, four other national airline flight attendants and air hostesses had managed to evade detection and apply for citizenship in Canada.
The airline authority confirmed that a year ago, yet another air steward from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was reported as missing in Canada when flight PK-798 landed in Toronto. The PIA representative verified that Ramzan Gul, a flight attendant, had boarded the national flag carrier’s flight out of Islamabad as part of the aircraft crew.
PIA officials also notified the Canadian immigration authority of this development, as each crew member’s General Declaration clearance and disappearance required reporting to the immigration authority.
