‘No more friendly dinners with Zuckerberg in future’: Trump responds to Facebook ban

WASHINGTON – Former United States President Donald Trump Friday vented on the ban from social media giant Facebook saying that ‘he wouldn’t host Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla for dinner, next time he will be in the White House.

Reports in International media cited that the Republican leader has dropped a major hint as he is all set o to run for the next presidential run.

In a statement issued on Friday, Trump says the banning is an absolute insult, not to him but to the voters. He also reiterated that the last general polls were ‘stolen from him.’ He further added that the one who introduced such laws should not be allowed to get away with censoring and silencing.

Expressing his anger on media magnate Mark Zuckerberg, he said ‘Next time I’m in the White House there will be no more dinners, at the requests of Mark Zuckerberg and his wife.’ If there’s will be any meetup, ‘It will be all business!’ disgruntled Trump added.

US-based social networking company Facebook on Friday – in a significant move following the Capitol riots events – suspended Donald Trump from the platform till January 2023. The tech conglomerate also announced the amended laws about treating the world leaders who break the rules.

A statement issued from Facebook stated that ‘Trump deserved the maximum punishment for violating platform rules over a deadly attack by his supporters on the US Capitol’.

Facebook global affairs VP Nick Clegg in a statement said ‘Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols’.

The statement further added that ‘If Facebook determines that there is still a serious risk to public safety, we will extend the restriction for a set period of time and continue to re-evaluate until that risk has receded. When Trump’s suspension is lifted, he will face strict sanctions that could rapidly escalate to permanent removal for rule-breaking.’

The social giant in the latest update clarified that no politicians will be exempted for deceptive or abusive content based on their comments being newsworthy.

It all started in the first week of 2021 when hundreds of Republican Party members and Trump supporters marched into the building by thrashing all barricades outside the Capitol. The protesters then stormed congress for halting the electoral college vote that confirmed Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump.

During the deadly riots, at least five people succumbed. A police officer was beaten, a protester was shot while three others killed during the rampage.

Google-owned video platforms YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, and even Tiktok suspended Trump’s account after the Capitol riot episode.

Let it be known that after weeks of launching his own social media network, former President Donald Trump in May launched a new section of his website. The ‘platform’, much like Twitter, has also been permanently shut down earlier this week.
