New Zealander PM ready to get married this Southern Summers, at 40, with a child

WELLINGTON: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, 40, and her long-term boyfriend Clarke Gayford, 44, are all set to marry during the southern summer.

New Zealand Labour Party while speaking in an interview on Wednesday revealed that she and her long-time beau have come to a decision to get hitched after two years of their engagement. ‘We have some plans – they are some way off. We might need to share some of our plans with our family and friends before we do that more widely’, she revealed on Coast Radio.

According to the report in international media, Ardern was quoted as saying ‘That doesn’t mean we’ve told anyone yet, so I feel like we should probably put some invites out’.

Report further suggest that the wedding is planned in summer most likely not be celebrated with the conventional customs as the 40-year-old admitted that she feels a bit too old to have a bridal party’.

A spokesperson of the New Zealand PM office told the International news agency that there is nothing further to add to what has been reported by Jacinda herself.

Let it be known that Jacinda and her boyfriend also have a 2-year-old daughter. The unmarried Jacinda gave birth to a baby girl in 2018. She becomes the first sitting world leader to give birth in at least three decades. Previously, former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto had given birth to her second child in 1990.

Last year in March, New Zealand also passed a bill decriminalising abortion and allowing women to choose a termination up to 20 weeks into a pregnancy.
