A live lion introduced at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) gathering in Lahore on Tuesday caused displeasure to party leader Nawaz Sharif.
The sizable feline, brought to the event by a party member, was promptly removed as per Nawaz’s directive, confirmed PML-N leader Marrium Aurangzeb. During the rally in the NA-130 Lahore constituency, where Nawaz Sharif is contesting the upcoming February 8, 2024 election, both a lion and a tiger were displayed. The wild animals were confined in iron cages while PML-N supporters and workers took photos with them.
Marriyum Aurangzeb conveyed that a genuine lion was sent back home following the former prime minister’s instructions. She stated in a tweet that Nawaz Sharif had specified that no live lion or any other animal should be featured in any rally in Pakistan. Aurangzeb also mentioned that the PML-N leader was not pleased with the situation. Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to lead a public rally in NA-130 today, with the senior vice president of PML-N, Maryam Nawaz, also participating.
