Muhammad Rizwan’s Inspiring Gesture: Dedicates World Cup 2023 Match-Winning Performance to Palestinians

In a record-breaking Cricket World Cup run chase, Pakistan’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka on Tuesday by six wickets.

Thanks to magnificent centuries from Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique, the Green Shirts successfully chased down the enormous 345-run target. The 1992 champions, who were tasked with chasing a daunting 345 after Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored centuries to put Sri Lanka in a dominant position, crossed the finish line in 48.2 overs, with Rizwan’s 131 not out and Abdullah’s 113.

Ireland had previously held the record for the highest run chase with a 329-run pursuit against England in the 2011 World Cup. The wicketkeeper-batsman posted a dedication to the Palestinian people who are under oppression on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He stated, ‘This was done in support of our Gazan brothers and sisters. I’m glad to have helped the team succeed. Credits go out to the entire crew, with notable mentions to Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making things simpler,’ Muhammad Rizwan said on Twitter.

Additionally, he expressed his appreciation to the people of Hyderabad for their unwavering assistance and cordial welcome. According to the United Nations, more than 260,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been forced to leave their homes due to Israel’s ongoing intense bombardments from the air, land, and sea.
