After successfully organizing children’s birthday parties, McDonald’s is expanding its services to include weddings.
The Indonesian social media account of the fast food franchise recently revealed its plan to offer catering for couples tying the knot. McDonald’s introduced the “Wedding Mekdi” package through an Instagram post, showcasing a variety of menu items, along with a beautiful flower bouquet and a pair of gold wedding bands. This special bundle comprises 100 chicken sandwiches and 100 orders of four-piece Chicken McNuggets.
Taking advantage of the promotion will cost roughly $230, which is only available in Jakarta right now. In other words, a frugal couple may invite 100 guests to their wedding and charge $2 per person for a nugget and sandwich combo for each attendee. The article instructs readers to “Make your wedding more memorable with the Wedding Mekhdi package.” The post also promotes a service for on-site food stalls, and larger weddings will be able to expand the size of their orders.
McDonald’s explained that the cost would prevent couples from getting married in a restaurant in a statement from The Sun US. In 2011, CNBC reported that several McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong had started selling wedding packages to customers, asking $1,300 for a fully catered ceremony at one of their restaurants, complete with goody bags filled with toys and a wedding cake made from a pyramid of boxed apple pies.
