Man throwing snow on Murree road arrested, Hotels overcharging stranded tourist sealed

Some action has been taken by administration against the well talked about overcharging of tourist stuck in Murree sector on the day of the storm which left over 20 dead.

A man who was said to be involved in throwing snow on the road on purpose was arrested adding to that, hotels which were involved in charging hefty amounts from stranded tourist have also been sealed.

According to the details, Rawalpindi police have detained a man named Saqib Abbasi and seized his vehicle. It is said that he was using snow to create artificial impediments in Murree so that he could extort money from visitors stranded there.

After throwing snow Saqib Abbasi demanded ‘hefty money’ from tourists to assist their vehicles out.

City Police Officer (CPO) Sajid Kayani ordered his arrest, stating that the accused’s other accomplices and facilitators would be captured as well.

Meanwhile hotels charging stranded tourist with hefty amounts were sealed. The sealing happened when receipts of hotel charging 500% profit hit the internet.

The hotel proprietors, according to twitter users, displayed an extreme level of apathy by playing on people’s misery by raising hotel room charges up to Rs50,000 for a single night.

The prices of eatable commodities were also ridiculously raised, with one egg fetching Rs500. Locals even demanded money to push the helpless tourists’ stuck autos. Small cars were charged Rs1,500, while large cars were charged Rs3,000.

Authorities have refused to disclose names of the hotels involved in the act. The sealed hotels are located along Abu Dhabi Road, Kuldana Road, Upper Jhika Gali Road and Bank Road.
