After his helicopter crashed, Madagascan Police Minister Gen. Serge Gellé swam for 12 hours to save his life.
After being trapped in the ocean for 12 hours following a helicopter accident in the Indian Ocean, Madagascar’s police minister and an air force technician are safe.
Fishermen rescued Gen. Serge Gellé, 57, the Secretary of State for the Gendarmerie, while Chief Warrant Officer Jimmy Laitsara managed to swim to shore.
The two were among four passengers on the helicopter that was assessing the wreckage of a shipwreck that killed at least 64 people on Monday. The other two have yet to be found.
“Thank God, my time to go hasn’t come yet.” I’m ok. In a video released on Twitter, Gelle, who appeared fatigued, said, “I’m simply freezing.” “However, I’m sad since I’m not sure if my buddies are still alive.”
He claimed he didn’t have a life jacket and relied on his seat to keep him afloat.
The two managed to survive after jumping into the sea just before the helicopter crashed, according to Jean-Edmond Randrianantenenaina, the head of the port authority.
The crash’s cause is still being investigated.
The Francia, the shipwrecked boat, is thought to have sunk owing to water in the engine room. Twenty passengers have yet to be found.
