Laraib Atta Bags Oscar Nomination For Bond Movie

Laraib Atta, a Pakistani visual artist, continues to inspire us. The young artist has now been nominated for an Oscar.

In addition, she and her team have been nominated for a BAFTA in the category of “Best Special Visual Effects” for the year 2022. Both the Oscars and the British Academy Film Awards will be held in March 2022.

The visual effects in the current Bond film, ‘No Time to Die,’ were created by the daughter of famed artist Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi. This Bond film received a total of 94 Academy Award nominations. It received nominations for ‘Best Original Song,’ ‘Best Song,’ and ‘Best Visual Effects.’

 

Laraib Atta, a Pakistani-born digital compositor, is part of the visual team for the film.

The crew was also nominated for a BAFTA award in 2022 for ‘Best Special Visual Effects.’

Laraib comes from the Isakhel district of Punjab, Pakistan, and is one of the world’s youngest female visual effects artists, having worked on films such as ‘Godzilla,’ ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout,’ among others.

The artist told ARY about the nominations, saying:

“I would like to say thank you for all the kind messages and support I’ve been receiving for Oscar, BAFTA nomination for visual effects on ‘no time to die’.”

 

She also expressed gratitude to her mother and brother, Sanwal, for always being there for her.
