Indian celebrities thank Pakistan for ‘gesture of humanity’ amid Covid-19 crisis

ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI: Pakistanis expressed solidarity with Indian neighbours to help them to deal with an enormous surge in new Covid -19 infections that have swamped health services within the second-most populous country in the world.

Celebrities, social activists, along top governance posted heartwarming messages wishing Indians well and offering prayers.

As the novel crisis unites traditional rivals, Bollywood celebrities noted the humanitarian act and expressed their delight to determine the outpouring of affection.

B.Town girl Kangana Ranaut, known for being outspoken, wrote “Heartwarming to see a top trend from Pakistan #PakistanstandswithIndia. We too acknowledge their empathy in these testing times.”

Indian actor Swara Bhaskar also hailed Pakistan for kindness and solidarity.”Heartening to see Pakistani civil society and social media reach out in solidarity and kindness to India during this devastating time. This despite the fact that our media and mainstream public discourse have consistently mocked and vilified Pakistanis, she concluded by saying, Thank you for your bada dil Padosi.

Indian Stand-up Comedian, Anshu Mor, also joined the bandwagon and took to social media networks for a cheering message in hardship. He was left joining his hands for the instant.

Congress leader Salman Nizami while replying to Rawalpindi Express called him an excellent human. He expressed gratitude and wrote May Allah protect us all!

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his solidarity with the people of India. Taking to his official handle, the premier wrote ‘we must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together. I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of #COVID19. Our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from pandemics in our neighbourhood and world.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also announced that Pakistan would help India with relief and medical equipment, saying it believes in a policy of humanity.

Besides the highest officials, many thousands of Pakistanis shared love and support with #IndiaNeedsOxygen and #PakistanStandsWithIndia on Twitter.

Meanwhile, there have been some 352,991 new Covid-19 infections reported within the last 24 hours, taking India’s total number of infections top 17 million, with 5 million cases counted during this month alone.
