Today, Monday, marks the first anniversary of the death of senior Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif. On October 23, while residing in self-exile in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, the prominent journalist and former anchor of ARY News was assassinated.
After the post-mortem examination of the veteran journalist and the return of his body to Kenya, several Kenyan news outlets have questioned not only the actions of the Kenyan police but also the circumstances surrounding his death. Initially, the police claimed that Arshad Sharif’s death was due to a “mistaken identity.” The case of the murdered journalist is currently under trial in the Supreme Court.

He praised Arshad Sharif’s journalistic attributes and offered his prayers for him.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has called on the UN to establish a fact-finding commission to investigate the murder of Arshad Sharif. Arshad Sharif, a senior journalist and anchor for ARY News, lost his life at the hands of five Kenyan police officers who have returned to their official duties without facing any consequences for their actions. Investigative and criminal journalist Nyaboga Kiage from Kenya made this assertion, reporting that two of the five police officers who were involved in the deadly gunfight have been promoted to senior ranks and are now back on the job.
