In an exclusive interview with Siyasat.pk, Mian Ali Ashfaq, the lawyer representing Journalist Imran Riaz Khan, made shocking allegations, accusing the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab and the IG of Jail of directly aiding in the disappearance of his client.
Ashfaq further stated that both officials would be named in the upcoming hearing.
During the impassioned interview, Mian Ali Ashfaq reiterated his belief that IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, played a central role in facilitating Imran Riaz Khan’s disappearance. Ashfaq went on to disclose that IG Punjab had initiated an inquiry against the journalist with the assistance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), following a critical tweet directed at the IG in March.
According to Mian Ali Ashfaq, this inquiry indicates a personal vendetta harbored by IG Punjab against his client, Journalist Imran Riaz Khan.
Mian Ali said he had evidence of Imran Riaz Khan’s illegal movements while he was supposed to be in jail. The lawyer claimed that Imran Riaz Khan had been primarily held in unlawful detention facilities operated by civilian institutions. When confronted with this information, responsible individuals orchestrated his transfer during the cover of night.
Furthermore, Ashfaq mentioned that his legal team is diligently striving to secure a hearing date on May 24, as a public holiday has been announced for the following day, May 25.
