Humming-Powered Song Search: YouTube’s New Feature Lets Users Find Songs by Humming

An intriguing new experiment that will excite music lovers has been launched by YouTube. It appears to be a significant improvement over Apple’s Shazam music detection tool, as the Google-owned platform has announced a new experiment on Android handsets that involves selecting a song by humming.

On a page titled ‘YouTube test features and experiments,’ the firm has announced the news. In this trial phase, participants can alternate between the standard voice search and the cutting-edge song search option. Users are required to hum, sing, or record music for at least three seconds.

The technology then recognizes the song and directs the user to appropriate YouTube videos that include the song they were searching for, whether it’s the official music video, user-generated content, or Shorts. Despite being in its quirky feature’s infancy, it has already captured the attention of Android users worldwide. A select few lucky people will get to experience this musical experiment in action.

It’s important to note that YouTube is not only improving its music and content discovery capabilities but also harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI). The site debuted a function earlier this month that uses AI to create video summaries on its own.
