Full House’ star Bob Saget found dead at 65 in Florida hotel room

Bob Saget, an actor and comedian best known for his role as the cheery dad on the television comedy “Full House,” was discovered dead in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, according to officials and his family.

The Sheriff’s Department confirmed to The Media that Bob Saget, whose comic and likeable depiction of widowed dad Danny Tanner on the comedy Full House made him one of TV’s most popular fathers, died Sunday in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida.

He was 65 years old at the time.

Saget was found unconscious in a room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, authorities said. He was also the longtime host of America’s Funniest Home Videos and was currently on a comedy tour.

Deputies in Orange County, Florida, were called Sunday about an “unresponsive man” in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando and found Saget dead, according to a sheriff’s statement on Twitter. Detectives found “no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”

“We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today. He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” the Saget family said in a statement . “Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

“I am broken,” Stamos tweeted Sunday. “I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”

The Philadelphia native is known for his role as Danny Tanner on ABC’s hit family comedy Full House. With his portrayal as Tanner, a father of three girls who recently lost his wife and moves in with his brother-in-law (John Stamos) and best friend, Saget rose to stardom (Dave Coulier). Despite the fact that the ABC show was not a critical triumph, it did well with audiences and aired from 1987 until 1995.

In 2016, the Netflix sequel series Fuller House resurrected the sitcom with much of the original cast.

Full House began the careers of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jodie Sweetin, and Candace Cameron Bure, as well as Stamos, Coulier, and Lori Loughlin, who were all children at the time.
