Finnish skier suffers frozen penis during race at Winter Olympics

A scary injury situation occurred during the men’s cross-country skiing final one day before the Beijing Olympics’ closing ceremony.

Remi Lindholm, a Finnish cross-country skier, experienced a frozen penis during Saturday’s men’s 50-kilometer competition in Zhangilakou.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Lindholm has had to deal with a situation like this. According to Yahoo, he was injured in the same way during an event in Finland last year.

Because of the extreme weather and freezing winds, race organisers had to postpone the start of the event. The race is usually 50 kilometers long, but owing to the weather, it was reduced to 20 kilometers.

Despite the adjustment, Lindholm, 24, was nonetheless injured in an unusual way.

“You can guess which body part was a little bit frozen when I finished,” Lindholm said following the ordeal, according to Yahoo. “It was one of the worst competitions I’ve been in. It was just about battling through.”

During this winter sport, skiers are always dressed up, but Lindholm’s suit and layers of clothes couldn’t save the cross-country skier from suffering an unfamiliar injury during the race.

In order to warm up the affected area, he was compelled to use a heat pack. “The pain was excruciating as the bodily parts started to warm up after the finish,” Lindholm said.

Lindholm finished the race in roughly one hour and 15 minutes, in 28th place.
