Fake News on Rs 10,000 Currency Notes making rounds on internet

It is alleged that the State Bank of Pakistan is about to launch a new currency note of Rs 10,000 to a photo of a Rs 10,000 Pakistani banknote that is doing the rounds on social media. Those who spotted the image on social media are lamenting the weak status of the Pakistani economy and the falling value of the rupee.

However, if someone takes the time to thoroughly examine this note, they will notice several factors that suggest this image of the new note is false. For instance, State Bank Governor Yasin Anwar’s name appears on this letter; he served as the State Bank Governor from October 19, 2011, to January 31, 2014; Jameel Ahmed is the current State Bank Governor.

Any new note will have the name of the State Bank Governor who is in office at the time, not the previous Governor, it should be emphasized. In this regard, when State Bank of Pakistan officials were contacted, they stated that the State Bank is not issuing any new currency notes worth Rs 10,000 and advised people not to pay attention to such rumors to verify such news before spreading it.

They also advised visiting the Bank of Pakistan’s official website and social media accounts. Keep in mind that in 2018 there were also rumors about the introduction of a new currency note worth 10,000 rupees.
