Elon Musk’s X Introduces Innovative Audio and Video Calling Feature

To compete with Threads, a social media platform owned by Meta Platforms (META.O), the social media network X, formerly known as Twitter, aims to introduce video and audio calls.

Elon Musk, the company’s owner, is rushing to create an ‘everything app.’ According to Musk’s post on X, users of Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and personal computers will be able to use these capabilities without needing a phone number. However, he did not specify the launch timing.

Musk announced his intention to transform Twitter into a super app offering a variety of services, including peer-to-peer payments, social networking, and messaging, after rebranding the platform as X. This concept reminds me of WeChat, an app widely used in China and developed by Tencent (0700. HK). Musk, who is still in charge of product development at X despite appointing a new CEO in May, is also working to alter how news links appear on the platform, potentially limiting the audience that news publishers can reach.
