Elon Musk announced on Sunday through a social media post that his highly anticipated encounter with Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (formerly known as Facebook), will be streamed live on social media platform X, formerly referred to as Twitter.
Starting in June, the leaders in social media and technology have been promoting the idea of organizing a mixed martial arts cage fight in Las Vegas. X will broadcast the Zuck vs. Musk match live. Musk stated in a post on X early on Sunday morning that all proceeds would benefit veterans’ charities, but he did not provide any other information.
Late on Sunday, Zuckerberg responded via his social networking app Threads and stated: “’I’m ready today. He has yet to confirm the date I proposed during his initial challenge, which happens to be August 26. I’m not holding my breath. In addition, he advised using a more ‘stable platform’ that may generate donations for charitable causes. Earlier on Sunday, Musk asserted on X that he spent the entire day lifting weights, getting ready for the fight. He mentioned that due to a lack of time for regular exercise, he decided to bring the weights to his workplace. Musk said, ‘It’s a civilized type of war,’ in response to a user on X who questioned the purpose of the conflict, stating that men enjoy fighting.
The controversy started when Musk declared in a post on June 20 that he was ‘up for a cage bout’ with Zuckerberg, who has jiujitsu training.
A day later, Musk, 52, responded with ‘Vegas Octagon,’ referring to an arena where mixed martial arts (MMA) championship fights are held when asked to ‘send location’ for the proposed throwdown by Zuckerberg, 39, who had previously shared images of victories on his company’s Instagram platform. Afterward, Musk mentioned that he’d begin his training once the cage fight became a reality.
