Dr. Samia Qazi, brains behind – Qawareer Fashion, clothing line for women

Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi is the daughter of late Qazi Hussain Ahmad leader of Jamat-e-Islami. Though she has served as Member of National Assembly (MNA) and also authored 12 books, she manages to squeeze out time for – Qawareer Fashion, clothing line for women.

 Qawareer Fashion is a brand where culture and civilization go hand in hand. The project was launched in four countries – Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey and Pakistan in collaboration with the Jamaat-e-Islami and the International Muslim Women’s Union.

This task was given to these four countries by the International Muslim Women’s Union (IMWU). According to the IMWU, these four countries are playing their role in the fashion industry on a large scale. The mission of Qawareer Fashion was to introduce modern garments that Muslim women can wear while working. It aims to be comfortable and also meet requirements of modern trends.

Dr. Samia believes that poor women have the same right to wear nice trendy clothes. “Women who are running small scale cottage industry in their homes are provided free space and they sell their products on our platform. Not only this, we also produce hijab and abaya at subsidized rate and sell it at subsidized rate at different madrassas. Qawareer Fashion is a volunteer Project,” she said.

In the last fourteen years from 2008 to 2022, many poor girls are running their homes because of Qawareer Fashion.

Dr. sahiba said that they make an annual report in which they balance income and expenses and place remaining income in the business. “We order coats and abayas from different countries, design it here and sell it in Pakistan. Not only clothes, coats and abayas also other decorative items are available for sale. It also includes baskets carved from Salanwali Sargodha . We also have all the items for Hajj and Umrah,” she said.

Like other businesses in Covid, Qawareer Fashion also faced loss for which they have now came up with a solution which is to invite different brands to the outlet. On this Women’s Day, Qawareer Fashion are inviting famous designers and big names in the clothing business to join in promoting the emerging trend of hijab all over the world.

“Because we want to make civilization a tradition in society, and hijab is civilization,” she said. She added that Qawareer Fashion believes in Hijab beyond attires and forms. “Hijab is our life style,” she said.

Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi is also the Chairperson, Council of Trustees, International Muslim Women Union IMWU, an NGO with ECOSOC status in United Nations; Member, Dawah Advisory Council, International Islamic University Islamabad and International Ambassador of Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan.

Dr Samia Raheel Qazi is among 50 most influential women in Pakistan, by the Jang Media based on the most successful women in all fields.
She works in various initiatives and organizations to serve women across the country and the world. She’s also a member of the board of Trustees “KHAWATEEN TRUST” which provides Micro Credit Schemes for Women.
