‘Disappointed’ Pakistani cricket fan Sarim Akhtar gets spot in Hong Kong Meme Museum

LONDON: International meme sensation Sarim Akhtar, who got fame during Pakistan vs Australia 2019 World Cup match, has made it to the first Meme Museum in Hong Kong.

It all started with a catch drop from Pakistani player Harris Rauf following which Sarim Akhtar was spotted displeased, with both his hands on his waist during the live telecast of the match. The pose of a Pakistani man then breaks the internet making Akhtar an international meme sensation over the night.

Later, Aussie clinched the match by 41 runs, and Sarim’s expression became a popular meme template for social media users to express any kind of angry or disappointed mood.

London-based Sarim, who shot to fame in a very short time, took to his official handle where he shared the news with his fans. He shared a clip featuring the Hong Kong Meme Museum, adding that he is a part of the clip. He went on to share the iconic picture that has been put on display in the museum which was opened by the online platform 9GAG.

Furthermore, he also shared a screengrab from the clip wherein his disappointed fan meme can be seen featuring at the museum. “Disappointed Fan – The photo features a disappointing cricket fan”, the caption reads. The picture also engraved his name on the right bottom.

The viral meme guy recently spoke with an Indian news agency in which he shared the experience of what it’s been like to be recognized as an international meme sensation.

“My name was leaked soon after the clip started doing rounds on the internet, I got thousands of friend requests on social platforms and my phone was buzzing throughout the night.” Sarim mentioned adding that “the meme is relatable to many as it fits into any situation that involves an unpopular decision.”
